Why Buy?
Here are the results of a survey that was done by the National Association of REALTORS® of 2,000 renters and 6,000 homeowners.
Studies show that most people buy homes not just to have control of where they live, but the satisfaction they get from owning and not renting. In fact, 76% of owners and 66% of renters considered pride a reason to buy. 7 in 10 disliked paying rent.
Another reason to buy was to make a home a reflection of the owner. Having control over modifying home features was important for about 6 in 10 people who surveyed.
“Settling down” was an important reason to buy. The investment aspect of owning was the reason to buy for 76% of owners and 69% of renters.
Long-term appreciation was revealed in the survey as another reason for ownership. People consider buying a home a good investment because of the long-term venture.
Even though people borrow a large amount to buy a home, they still receive full benefits of price appreciation. Leverage investment was revealed as another strong reason to buy.
Almost 7 in 10 renters said they planned to buy a home in the future and were willing to sacrifice to do so. Sacrifice is worth it.
